Oh, my goodness, you wouldn’t believe the chaos that unfolded in our house just last week. It all started when my two sons, Eddie and Lance, decided they both wanted to borrow my pretty cream wrap top paired with that lovely lilac skirt I bought last month. Now, I’ve always known they’re competitive—Eddie’s always been a little bossier, and Lance’s just as stubborn—but I never imagined they’d get into such a frenzy over a piece of clothing!
It began with a simple request. Eddie saw me wearing the top one morning and asked if he could wear it to school. Lance, hearing this, immediately piped up that he’d like to borrow it too. I told them I’d let them both wear it on different days, but oh no—neither of them wanted to wait. Their eyes flashed with determination, and suddenly, it was like a battle was brewing.
Before I knew it, they were arguing fiercely, each insisting he had the right to wear it first. Eddie claimed he needed it for his presentation, and Lance argued he’d only wear it for a quick lunch outing. It got so heated that they nearly came to blows, pulling at the top and tugging on the skirt. I was standing there, trying to mediate, but honestly, I’ve never seen them so competitive over anything before.
Finally, I just had to step in and put an end to the chaos. I told them, “If you’re both so set on having it, I’ll buy a second one so you can both wear it whenever you like.” And that’s exactly what I did. I went out the next day and bought an identical cream wrap top and lilac skirt for each of them. Now, they’ve learned to share—and I’ve learned that sometimes, a simple solution can save a lot of trouble!
